The First Baptist church invites the Benic class adults to a Thursday Sunday School event at Mrs. J. M. Jones’ home on North Appletree Street with car transportation arranged after notice. Illnesses include Mrs. Ed W. Smith formerly of Dothan in hospital. Guests visit Blytheville and Macon residents. Rex Towell in teacher college training. Lt. and Mrs. Ray O. Bagwell from Abbeville visiting locals.
Mrs. Wilbur Warren Rose Green received gifts at a bridge shower hosted by Mrs. H L Holman and Miss Imogene Holman in Ozark on a Wednesday afternoon. Six tables played, roses and snapdragons decorated, and high score awarded to Miss Carrie Russ.
Mrs Dikes Rushing of Grove Hill was complimented when her mother Mrs T J Brooks hosted an afternoon bridge party at West Main Street Saturday. Five tables filled the garden with gladioli lilies and other blooms. Milly pool featured as guests enjoyed punch.
Mrs. E S Cooper entertained her bridge club and guests at the Brock hotel with five tables in the living room decorated by gladioli and garden blooms. High scores went to Mrs. Able J Smith for club high and to Mrs. Brown Howell for guest high. Tea served by Mrs. J P Stuckey and Mrs. Harley Messer.
The Baptist G. A. s met with Mrs. Lee Brown as leader in New Brockton on June 9. Devotional was shared with Junior G. A's on Stewardship while the president was absent. Mrs. Brown presided as director during a group discussion of G. A. ranks and the first degree work on Maid in Waiting.
Mrs A H Skipper and Mrs Laou ise Chapman were hostesses at Chapman home on Commerce street for a bridge afternoon amid spring flowers. Miss Dorothy Collins won high score. guests listed include Flesner Tell ard Tiller Burghard Collins Chapman Mulkey Johnson Rowell Gillis. In Gadsden district news, Donald Ray McNabb drowned at Hooks Lake after a family outing.
J E Smith marked his 62nd birthday on Route Two Sunday June 7 with a large family gathering and a dinner under the oaks. Numerous relatives and friends attended including Mrs J E Smith Miss Callie Smith Edward Smith Haskell Smith and many others plus extended family members and guests. Miss Wileebe Hall attends University summer school in its first semester.
