MAWERS CITY Mo June 3 AP Walter McGee former pre convict was said by police to admit participation in the kidnapping of Miss Mary McElroy 25 daughter of City Manager McElroy and to have helped collect 30000 for her release Police said Clarence Stevens acted with him and that McGee s brother George and Clarence Click guarded the girl during the 29 hours held before ransom Windell Johnson and others in Amarillo Texas were said to have had no part Five persons including two women were being held in Amarillo three in jail here The father paid 30000 on a Kansas road for the girl s freedom as police tied a Leavenworth junk dealer telegram to the crime The leading kidnapper was identified after police reviewed photos of McGee and other suspects and he and others were indicted by a federal grand jury

Fort McPherson Georgia June 4 AP more than 300000 was routed today to the homes of families whose boys are in the Civilian Conservation Corps Fourth Corps Area about 25 checks were mailed last night. The money is part of the ages of boys in the Conservation. Families whose sons have been in camp a month will get 25. Other checks are for the proportional part of the 25 based on service of the worker. Largest payments go to Georgia Florida and other states with amounts listed. More than 1,000,000 will be deposited monthly as enrollment increases.
