World Beauties Enter International Pageant at Galveston

Ambassadors of blond and brunet beauty from 18 foreign countries compete with American maidens in the International Pageant of Pulchritude on Galveston’s three mile seawall from June 8 to 12. Ten cities and 23 states represent the country with entrants from Ireland Romania Greece Hungary Austria Switzerland Holland Poland Brazil and more. Photos were submitted to a London paper selecting Miss England. The pageant marks first South American representation with Olga Bergamini de Sa winning Miss Brazil. News reels will capture the event in talkies and fourteen past contestants have since appeared on Broadway.

Bremen Maiden Voyage Set for June as Record Ship

The Bremen, Europa’s four propeller sister, prepares for its maiden trip to New York on June 16. At 910 feet long and 97.5 feet beam, the liner features two tall funnels and new side smoke pipes to reduce wind resistance and create a vast open social area. Capacity runs 2,000 passengers across first, second, tourist, and third classes with a maximum of 2,200.
