Representative Amzi Barber announces plans to go to Montgomery to investigate why a five per cent fee on ad valorem taxes was added to the Jefferson county licensing bill. Barber says the clause was not in the original measure and questions who inserted it before passage.
In Huntsville Alabama on July 31 AP notes the public square hears old time hucksters and auctioneers selling items from cord wood to sewing machines and watermelons. Since the square became a trading place fruits and vegetables from Madison County have been added.
