Queen Mary to Resume Weekly Atlantic Runs

Southampton reports the Queen Mary, famed luxury liner, will resume weekly transatlantic service on July 31 after wartime refurbishments. Deck planking, paneling, and interiors have been restored, including a new cocktail bar and supper club, with the ship’s grand lounge and smoking room returned to prewar elegance.

Ship undergoes massive reconversion and trials

Hundreds of wire files were removed and renewed decks scraped rugs laid pumps generators and other equipment were replaced. The ship underwent a gigantic overhaul and is now in trial runs. At month end she will sail to New York to cheers and music.
