Cotton Futures Rally Fades After Local Heavy Buying
New York July 28. Cotton rose 15 to 18 points on commission house buying which absorbed the usual selling of around 10 090 October credited to farm board brokers. Increased demand came from unfavorable rains in the eastern belt and higher stock and grain markets. Purchases of about 20 009 October and December by one house were said to be for a local operator. After the buying, the market eased. Weather showed heavy rains in central Oklahoma and Montgomery Savannah Atlanta Augusta Charleston and Wilmington districts. Arkansas had light showers. The forecast was showery except Arkansas Oklahoma and east Texas. Spot people reported better demand from mills and optimism in New England textile circles.
