Clayhatchee man traps alligator on small set hook

In Clayhatchee on July 22 Louie Hillman caught a four foot alligator with a small set hook in Claybank Creek near the Dothan Enterprise highway bridge. The animal swallowed a hook and struggled until eight seconds later Louie secured a gun from a nearby store to finish the capture.

Chicago Stages Comeback Restores Credit Standing

The AAA reported for the 11 months ended June 1, 1935, total expenditures reached 767 million dollars with 918 million funds available. Payments covered farmers rental and benefits, surplus removal, drought relief, trust operations, and administration, plus tax refunds. Chicago officials say 27 months of funding hardship ended with a dramatic turnaround. In April 1933 the city owed employees about 17 million dollars in back pay. Tax warrants were reduced, bonds refinanced at higher prices, and interest rates lowered. By mid 193X the city reported only 198 thousand of warrants unpaid and 16.7 million for 1934 still publicly held. Payroll cuts were eased, and tax levies fell from 51.96 million in 1930 to 38 million in 1933.
