Atlanta dispatch reports new season temperatures across the South as a heat wave pushes toward an all time high in Tifton with forecasts of 104 degrees and widespread 100 plus readings. Marching through Alabama and other states, forecasters warned of no relief ahead. Montgomery expected 100 and Eufaula hit 102 yesterday.

Hundred Hunting Slocomb Man Missing Since Wednesday
A search for 75 year old G. S. Kelly, known as Sumpter Kelly, continued in Slocomb with over a hundred volunteers. He was last seen walking from Slocomb toward Hartford along the railroad, prompting sustained hunts in swamps and woodlands. Authorities fear heat exhaustion as the likely cause of his disappearance. Kelly is a well known local builder who helped lay out Slocomb and lives with his son in law Dan Clark.

Hoover Slices 75 000 Salary to 60 000 Amid Cabinet Cuts
President Hoover announced a 15 percent salary reduction for himself and cabinet officers during a cabinet meeting.
