German students oppose army service in poll

_FRANKFURT UP More than 90 percent of German university students would reject volunteering as soldiers even if Germany had its own army and officers. The poll of 500 students from Erlangen and Munich found 70 percent had served in the Wehrmacht in World War I, and most favor a government that guarantees human freedoms over one prioritizing economic security. Only a minority blame Germany for the war, and over half see immediate withdrawal of Western troops as premature. A small share view Germany's defeat as the result of overwhelming odds.
