Allied expeditionary reports say American forces pressed toward St Lo driving toward Caen with fresh troops, capturing hill positions and advancing along the Vire River. British forces held a solid line near the Caen front as German counterattacks continued.

Eighteen year old Stell Fancher held on first degree murder charges for killing her grandmother Mrs Dolly Sims at their West Savannah home. In jail cell she ran amok yesterday threatening self harm and cursing guards after confinement. Fancher, wife of a house painter, reportedly admitted striking her grandmother three or four times with a cobbler shoe last. Sims died in a Dothan hospital after being found unconscious with severe head injuries. The arrest followed her attempted escape to Page 2.
Dr Albert H Collins announced F Z Doak as director of the OPA rent office in Dothan to replace Charles M Cooper who resigned Collins called Doak the logical choice for the post Doak had served as an examiner at the area rent office since it opened two years ago Collins also announced W Sid Wilson as attorney examiner for the Dathan Ozark defense rental area

Ankara reports say talks between Turkey Russia and Britain may push Turkish participation in the war before summer's end. Discussions involve premier Saracoglu and diplomats after Cairo Conference uncertainties. US kept fully informed as Moscow London and possibly Washington host simultaneous consultations.
Congressman George Andrews arrived in Dothan and opened a temporary office at 318 Post Office Building for about two weeks. He invited local residents with business to call by. He was accompanied by Ed Donnelly, his secretary, a Daleville native.
