A new diphtheria case is reported in Houston county. The home of the affected child in the New Providence Church community has been quarantined to prevent spread.
Little Rock July 11. For the fourth time in a year Helen Spence Eaton, known as the comely girl slayer, escaped from the women’s state farm where she was serving a 10 year term for a second killing. She feigned illness to exit to a hospital room, then took a guard’s pistol and fled. Eaton, paroled last year by Governor Futrell from a two year sentence for the courtroom killing of Jack Worls, previously escaped once and had been involved in the Dewitt cafe operator Jim Robots slaying. She was last seen in men’s clothing and suspected of trouble upon recapture.
The Rev. Clement Ritter, pastor of First Presbyterian, has returned from Benton Alabama where he conducted meetings. He will occupy the pulpit Sunday at the morning preaching hour and again at the 6 p.m. vesper service.
Aosie Todd nine year old daughter of Mr and Mrs A T Todd fractured her arm yesterday after falling from a tree at 801 Frasier street.

The Wire Grass Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars moved its July 28 meeting to next Monday night per Commander Cerl E. Sellers. The change allows members to attend the American Legion convention in Birmingham July 23. Adjutant John J. Wynner will attend the Legion session and join the VFW meeting August 1 for installation of members. The post invites the public to the installation gathering.
A new FERA project to repair and paint the Cowarts school building was released by state headquarters. Five men will work two months at $225 labor with $85 from patrons for paint and materials, starting early next week.

Georgia plants remain generally poor with grassy field complaints. northwestern Louisiana shows some improvement.
New York July 11 Cotton rises to 13.12 after a letter from Oscar Johnson of the AAA dated July 5 asserts the government has not sold ten cent loan cotton through the CCC or RFC and loans extend to Feb 1, 1935. The CCC has no hedging plans and only the Pool of tan of about two million bales remains directly or indirectly in government hands.
