Dr. Henry Green Named President of Chattahoochee Medical Association

Dr. Henry Green of Dothan was elected president at the 20th annual convention in Albany. Other officers include E. B. Anderson of Americus as second vice president and Co W Roberts of Atlanta as Secretary Treasurer. The 1930 convention will be in Albany. Dr. Green, a longtime Alabama physician, praised Dothan hospitality and noted a missed brain surgery paper by Dr. Charles Dowman.

Scotch geologist resigns Glasgow chair

Professor John W. Gregory will resign from the chair of geology at Glasgow University in September. He was one of the first white men to cross Spitsbergen and to enter Tibet. He crossed the Australian desert in midsummer and in 1896 trekked 1890 miles to Mount Kenya.

Germans see paper printed through radio in Berlin broadcast

A Berlin radio program demonstrated the newspaper making process by allowing listeners to follow the production at the Ullstein plant. Microphones in departments guided the audience through writing, gathering, and printing, drawing strong listener response and letters.

City council fixes date for sale of bonds

The council met in adjourned session and authorized advertising bonds for sale. Bonds go to sale at auction on August fifth at 8 p.m. in the council chamber. Officials say the city may reject any offers not satisfactory.

Hotel Hearing Postponed Over Witness Shortage

The circuit court hearing before Judge Pearce on an injunction against the Bush hotel was postponed by one day to obtain a defense witness. The city seeks to halt operations, alleging health and morals risks, while the defense argues any nuisance has been abated since May 15 after a police raid and arrests. Testimony is expected to conclude tomorrow with both sides finishing their cases.

Little Girl Bitten By A Rattlesnake Near Lumpkin

Elsie Stringfellow, one year old and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Stringfellow of near Lumpkin, was bitten above the ankle by a four rattles rattlesnake while in a sweet potato patch. Parents bound the leg above the wound and rushed her to Lumpkin for anti venom. she was recovering with no serious after effects anticipated, and the snake was killed.

Construction of Legion Club Begins Near Clendinen Orchard

Construction on the American Legion club house started this morning a quarter mile west of Clendinen's orchard south of town. The six week schedule aims for a summer occupancy with a reception hall ball room and offices for the Auxiliary and the Legion. Every tree on the surrounding grounds will be dedicated to soldiers who fell in France.

Train Wreck Near Corning Kills Five, Injures Two

An east bound Erie Railroad express collided with a westbound freight car near Corning New York early today killing five people including four crew members and one hobo. Two others were injured and engineer Fred E Blake of Hornell was among the dead. Four bodies remained in wreckage by noon.

Hines Killing. Beatrice Clark Injured in Alabama

Jack Hines twenty five was killed four miles north of Eufaula and Beatrice Clark eighteen was attacked after being dragged from their automobile. A Negro suspect fled in the car as citizens and state officers, aided by bloodhounds from Kilby prison, search Barbour Bullock and surrounding areas. Atlantic Coast Line to seek line pause on Elba branch trains

ENTERPRISE Ala July 11 The Atlantic Coast Line will ask the Alabama Public Service Commission on or about August 1 for permission to discontinue trains on the Elba Waterford branch.
