Will Johns rites held this afternoon at Pleasant Ridge Church with the Res Br Cemetery crew officiating. Survived by widow Mrs Willie Mac Johns and other relatives from Ozark route three and Osierk route two, with several nieces, nephews, and friends attending.

Leon A McCarthy testified McGee admitted a record of 13 prior court martial convictions for away without leave drunkenness disrespect to a superior officer illegal use of a half rack and Nazi prisoner mistreatment in France.
Governor Chauncey Sparks said clemency hearings will be held next Wednesday for two condemned men, Worley Jones and E. J. Burns, both facing death in Kilby prison’s electric chair on July 20. Burns plans to appeal to the U S Supreme Court. A third condemned man, Eg Lucky alias Oliver Patton, also awaits execution July 20 in Hale County.
A Birmingham fire swept a warehouse north of downtown causing about 75000 in damage. The building owned by Central of Georgia railroad housed Jefferson Home Furniture Co and Simmons Mattress Co. One firefighter was treated for smoke inhalation.

Isaac Branch, 19, is charged with second degree murder in the fatal stabbing of disch arged Alabama soldier Franklin Eugene Bentley in Buffalo. Two others were slashed. Wounded were Pvt Jamson F Jimerson and Frank Cercone.

Denson Dothan route five, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Active pallbearers listed. honorary pallbearers named.
London AP reports Stars and Stripes rebuked USO camp shows and Frank Sinatra for criticizing military entertainment. The Army newspaper called Sinatra's remarks disrespectful to soldiers and blasted meddling officers while defending capable performers and the Special Services. It notes positions on patriotism and shows amid wartime propaganda.
The first quadruple amputee of World War II, Sergeant Hense, is recovering in Kentucky with both arms and legs lost but expected to walk again with artificial limbs and joints. Army doctors report good condition and forecast walking ability in time for his August birthday. His wife Jewel, formerly of Corbin, visits him at the hospital as officials note only two such quadruple amputees in the war and count deck amputations among the total.
At least six people are dead after a severe electrical storm swept Lehigh Valley overnight. In Phillipsburg four died when a stone wall collapsed onto two houses housing 11 people. Names listed include Helen Souders 39 John Souders 9 Nellie Vas Norman 54 and Peter Newman 68. Heavy rain flooded a two mile stretch from Phillipsburg to Northampton with water covering roads and sinking roofs. Damages run into hundreds of thousands of dollars, the worst storm in the area since 1942.
A call meeting of regular Dothan Country Club members will be held at the Club tonight at o clock to elect one vice president. The club has had a vice presidency vacancy since M Stallings moved to the presidency when K Shealey signed.
