Milk price goes up a nickel a quart in Dothan area

Dothan residents will pay an extra ten cents a quart for doorstep milk tomorrow morning. Jesse Forrester of Hudson Eddins of Sanity Dairies said the rise follows end of food and milk subsidies and OPA ceilings. Clyde Coe said no change in his area, but his dairy does not deliver. Alabama Milk Control Board officials said the price rise is justified due to subsidy discontinuation and will net about two cents more per quart for producers, with no added profits. Forrester explained the consumer gain is minimal since subsidies were paid by taxpayers before.
