Dynamite Ditches Drain Acreage on Ashford Farm

Special report details W. C. Wells near Ashford blasting about a mile and a half of drainage ditches with dynamite. The technique allegedly adds 50 acres of prime land worth around 10 dollars per acre and raises value on 400 to 500 extra acres. The Production and Marketing Administration funds part of the cost, with the local Po and MA program covering eight cents per linear foot. The work by Flint River Explosive Co. sped across the county, though rain delayed progress.
