Railembargo On Freight To East South Great Lakes Area
The Office of Defense Transportation announced an embargo on all freight moving through or within the area east and south of the Great Lakes from 12:01 a m yesterday to 12:01 a m Tuesday. War freight and government directed consignments are exempt. Food shipments are banned unless government directed or consigned. Blizzard conditions have disrupted rail service, making the embargo necessary to keep war goods moving.
