Greenberg Likely To Wind Up Ball Career At First
AL VERMEER reports Hank Greenberg is expected to end his baseball voyage at first base with Detroit. The veteran joined the Tigers after Rudy York’s trade, switched to left field during spring training, and quickly mastered the position. Greenberg hit .340 with 41 homers and 150 RBIs, spurring Detroit to the pennant before WWII interrupted his prime. After service, he returned and helped revive the team, now a wealthy star aiming for two or three more seasons at the plate.
