Fort Gaines Garden Club To Sponsor Camellia Show

The Fort Gaines Georgia Home and Garden Club will sponsor its Camellia Show at the Carnelia Clubhouse on January 31. Entries will be accepted from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and the display will be open to the public from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

Southside Baptist Group Forms Woman's Society

The Southside Baptist Group organized a Woman's Missionary Society and started planning a constitution. Mrs. Hugh Gachet was elected temporary president with officers including Mrs. Mose Harper as first vice president and Mrs. Henry Askew as second vice president, as the meeting concluded and committees were named to draft by laws.

The Alabama Conference of Social Work will hold its first annual session in Montgomery at the Jefferson Davis Hotel on March 30. Lafayette Street Methodist Circles Enter New Officers

Lafayette Street Methodists held New Year meetings as Circles One through Six elected officers and welcomed new members. Circle One, at Mrs. Albert Logue, reported nine present with Mrs. Will McCurry giving a devotional on Psalm 138. Circle Two elected A D Sheehan as chairwoman and Circle Three, with Mrs. R C Deese, focused on Time. Circle Four, Five, and Six listed officers and members, with devotions and social hours marking the sessions.

Presbyterian Women Hold Program Meet at church

The Presbyterian Women's Auxiliary met Monday afternoon led by Mrs. Tom Speight who spoke from the Mission book on carrying the Good News Overseas. Mrs. Mack Flowers opened with prayer and Mrs. W. H. Bennett led a study on Isaiah with themes about nations. Mr. Frank Covington presided as plans were made for observing the Week of Prayer and Self Denial. Mrs. Frank Moseley was named chair of the program committee. Twenty three Auxiliary members attended.

Mrs Curtis Baxley Hosts Circle Meeting at Grand View Baptist

Mrs Curtis Baxley entertained the Duty Aske Circle of Grand View Baptist W M S yesterday afternoon at her Las Lafayette Street home. The program was presented by Mrs Willie Perry and Mrs L. Hoke Moody led the dismissal prayer. The meeting closed with a social hour and refreshments for ten members present.

Foster Street Group Holds Church Program Meeting

Foster Street Methodist W. C. S. met at the church with H. H. McAkley presiding. The Alice Newton Circle, led by Mrs. J. T. Lane Jr., spoke on Our Stewardship of Children in the World. Miss Janell ealy, Jeanine Ward Edgar, and Betty Miss Martha Davie Sapp shared, Mrs. E. N. Pollan Jr. accompanied music, secretary notes 86 members present, and a move from 495 S Gates Street to 604 Edgerwood Drive noted.

AFMC Board Sets January Meeting in Montgomery

The executive board of the State Federation of Music Clubs of Alabama will meet January 3 at the Jefferson Davis Hotel in Montgomery. Fifty leading music clans form the federation with Mrs. Philip Speir as state president. They plan a state convention April 9 and 10 featuring a Choral Festival.
