Women Here Asked To Join Use More Cotton Movement

Dothan women are invited to join a state wide effort to raise cotton use and revive Southern prosperity. Led by Birmingham's Mrs W J Adams the movement organizes communities to boost cotton adoption and support cotton farmers. Birmingham hosts Use More Cotton Week with merchants offering cotton themed promotions. State groups include the Alabama Federation of Women's Clubs and others in civic life.

Health board reports no deaths from major diseases in seven years

Dr. M. A. Fort’s Health Board notes deaths from preventable diseases were very low in 1931. No white deaths from typhoid, diphtheria, scarlet fever, measles, lockjaw, or pellagra occurred. Preventive treatments for typhoid, diphtheria, smallpox, and hookworm were given. none treated have contracted the diseases again in seven years. About 8000 preventive treatments were administered in 1931.
