Boards Authorize Deferment of Essential Farm Workers
Washington AP reports that draft boards gained broader power to defer agricultural workers deemed essential to food production. A new local-boards guide lowers the unit for deferral from 16 to potentially eight units, with flexibility to set higher or lower standards. The guide, approved by Agriculture, War Manpower, and farm groups, adds more products to the essential list for deferment.
