Spring Fashion Shifts From Tailored Lines To Draped Silhouettes
New York fashion writers describe spring dresses moving from slim, tailored daytime frocks to Turkish draped styles. Daytime looks favor coat-dresses with minimal fullness and chalky neckline accents in wool or crepe. The opposite extreme features draped dresses with hip swags, navy crepe and blue trims, reflecting a 1918 inspiration. Military notes report Sergeant Wallace French returning from India after 27 months, planning discharge and family visits, while Technical Sergeant Bill Baker and wife Rachel Campbell head to Tampa after re-enlisting at the Tampa Air Base.
