ETON Pa AP A strike action expanded as 20 000 more anthracite miners joined in. Union leaders sought to explain to the labor board the 17 day wild bout that already affected 17 000 workers. The district federation demands a wage increase and a 24 day bonus plus elimination of a monthly raise. The union continued pressuring operators amid no strike guidance from the national union and possible wage talks set for January 13.
The Associated Press reports German losses mount as Allied air and naval actions press across North Africa and the Mediterranean. Allied offensives near Tunis threaten French forces while air strikes target German and Italian supply lines in Libya and Libya fronts.
