Sheriff T. W. Butler received word from Wicksburg that William Peters, a respected local farmer and churchman, attacked his wife with a chair and later engaged a cyclist with a pitchfork and axe. The man is described as insane but partially subdued, with ten years of intermittent spells.
New Orleans January 11 Harry Whitney explorer who aided Dr Frederick Cook in Utah says he will sail for the South Pole next August. He plans to take Captain Bartlett alone, refusing Shackleton’s route, and will travel via Cape Town to Cortes Land to push as far south as possible.
