Headland Kiwanis Honors J. P. Wilson for Service

J P Wilson director of the Wiregrass Agricultural Perimental station in Headland received a silver ingot cup and the title Mr Citizen of Headland from the Kiwanis Club. The award followed a year of strong club activity supporting city and high school athletics, Boy Scouts, a Teen-Age Club, churches, schools, and a PTA sponsored library fundraiser.

Scouts Guard Bridge After Rain Collision on Edge Road

Dothan scouts at a camp-out alerted a potential motorist danger when a bridge on Edge Road weakened by rain collapsed a three foot hole. Last Building Permit Of 1946 For Residence

J. H. Alford received the last building permit issued at the fire department in 1946 to build a residence at 213 Patterson street costing 1200 dollars. Earlier permits include S. W. McKinney for a church at 1000 North Montana street costing 20000 dollars and J. C. McKissick for a residence on Reed Lake street costing an unfinished amount.

Winter Storm Halts Air Travel and Delays Rail Service

Snow and freezing rain hit a wide region from New England to the Texas Panhandle causing grounded flights at La Guardia and Chicago, with fog in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. First Sunday School Service Scheduled By Southside Mission

The Southside Baptist Mission will host its first Sunday School at 9 20 a m Sunday announced by executive committee chair Fred Dykes. About 290 can be seated and Allison Peacock serves as superintendent. The new auditorium under construction will soon be finished with a 10 day revival to mark occupancy.

Blonde Held in Bail as Material Witness in Camera Shooting

Miss Pearl Lusk a 19 year old blonde was held in 10000 bail as a material witness in the New Year's Eve shotgun attack in a Times Square subway station. She claimed she was duped by Alphonse Rocco the victim's former husband who provided a camouflaged camera that concealed a sawed off shotgun. Mrs Rocco 26 accused her former husband of orchestrating the plot and police have yet to arrest him.

Road Paving Contract Signed In County

A paving contract between Houston County and the State Highway Department was signed today. Mil ton Luke the county road superintendent said the project covers about a mile on the Finterprise highway from Snell's store to the Dale County line as part of the State Aid County Project paving program.

Interim Committees Cannot Be Set Up At Organization Meet
