City Buys Ditch Digger To Save One On Cost Of Laying Pipes
The City of Dothan buys a Barber ditching machine to expand sewer and paving work. Ramseur, the city engineer, says the digger may replace at least 70 laborers, cutting 100 to 60 feet per hour and handling six and a half foot trenches. The $12,000 machine runs on a six cylinder engine, uses minimal fuel, and operates on tractor treads with a conveyor system depositing dirt into a pile beside the ditch.
