Grave in Cellar Yields Body of Man Missing Two Years
Scottsboro Alabama February 28 AP a crude grave in a storm cellar near the rural home provided the answer to the disappearance of Jim Roberts. In November 1930 four persons including Roberts widow were in jail charged with accessories to murder. Those arrested after the half burned body of Roberts was exhumed were Mrs Octavia Ladd his widow Tom Stokes B T Stokes and D L Smith. Officers said a story by Jake Morris a youth led them to the storm cellar where the body was found. Morris said Roberts was killed with a hammer during a party at his home near Long Island and then burned and buried in the storm cellar.
