New York dispatch reports John H. Sorrells executive editor of Scripps-Howard newspapers died of a heart attack at his home. Born March 31 1896 in Pine Bluff Ark he rose through the Pine Bluff Daily Graphic Daly Oklahoma Cleveland Press Memphis Press Scimitar and Fort Worth Press before becoming executive editor in 1950. He served in World War I and held censorship roles in World War IV. Survived by wife Ruth and four children.

Man Shot To Death In Cotton Mill Office Fight
In Sylacauga Alabama AP report, Danville Knitting Mill official Dan Pierce aged 47 was shot twice through the heart and died in the mill office at Bon Air. Mill superintendent Albert Kirkpatrick 58 was seriously wounded and taken to Sylacauga Hospital. Coroner J M Hughes said the shooting occurred around 8 am amid a struggle for a revolver. Pierce and Kirkpatrick were longtime friends.

Will Irwin, 74, prolific writer and editor, died yesterday in New York. A Stanford alumnus, he reported for The Sun during the San Francisco earthquake, edited McClure's and Collier's, and served as a World War I correspondent for Allied and American outlets.
