Milk Strike Threat Looms as UDT and Dairy Firms Clash
The CIO United Dairy Workers rejected a wage offer and pressed for an immediate return to work with full federal price relief. A dairy met the union demand briefly, but most workers resisted, as cities face emergency requirements. Federal Conciliation Director Warren considered stepping in if progress stalls and proposed a Washington meeting. Both sides signaled willingness to delay if a real settlement could be reached. Also noted are mileage figures for electric rail lines and the first trans-Atlantic glider tow from Montreal to England in 1933.
