National Director Of Scout Training Visits Dothan
Joseph M. Thomas assistant national director of volunteer training for Boy Scouts of America will be in Dothan tomorrow and Tuesday for Southeast Alabama Council conferences. A Tuesday 7 p.m. meeting with the training committee takes place at the Enterprise elementary school. District representatives include Joe Wilson Dothan Houxton Wilmer Parker Ozark Dale Mark Lower Abbeville George Proctor Andalusia and Albert Elmore Troy Vern on St John is the field commissioner for training. Thomas began as a Scout in 1923 earned Eagle in 1926 and has served in multiple Scout roles before joining the national staff in 1940. He has served in the Army Reserve since 1929 and active duty since 1942 with postings in India Burma and China.

Columbia Resident Dies At Montgomery
Mrs. Fred C. Smith of Columbia returns from Montgomery after seven weeks at the bedside of her husband Dr. F. C. Smith who died in the Veterans Hospital Montgomery. He had retired in 1943 from the Army Medical Corps and moved to Columbia in July last year. He was chief medical officer at several veterans hospitals. Surviving are his wife Mrs. Tommie Stovall Smith and a daughter Mrs. J. R. Morency Jr. of Ann Arbor Michigan.
