Browns fielding marks show individual standouts in 1046 season

Despite finishing last in the Alabama State League team fielding at .935, Dothan Browns players posted notable figures. Fincher and Myers led in first base evens, Batt and Brasher excelled at first, Clark and Bohannon topped in several infield spots, Stanga posted .978 at short, Gudaitis and Bohannon shone in the outfield, and pitchers like Johnson, Hudson, Carter, and Devlin logged multiple wins as 25 players took the mound during the pennant run.

Hank Crisp Joins Tulane Grid Staff

Hank Crisp, a veteran former Alabama line coach and 1946 Miami Seahawks coach, was named Tulane University assistant football coach by Athletic Director Claude Monk Simons. He will work part time in spring and fall, keep residence in Tusgeen, Alabama, and report to Tulane Monday.

Graceville Defeats Dothan Five In Consolation

Graceville edged Dothan 43 42 in the consolation of the Gold Medal cage tourney as Johnny Martin of Dothan made the all tournament team. Samson upset Columbia 45 39 to win the Medal championship, with semifinals seeing Dothan fall to Samson 30 20 and Graceville 47 34 by Columbia. Fowler of Graceville led scorers with 7% points. Carter of Columbia posted 27 in a game.

Alabama State League Eyes April Start After Schedule Conflicts

President Jack Hovater said the Alabama State League aims to begin April 15 once a workable schedule is agreed. Two proposed slates were rejected by teams, with conflicts looming among Enterprise Ozark and Geneva teams.
