The Alabama legislature, after weeks of delay, shifts focus from liquor bills to other essential business. Voters believed liquor legislation was the main concern, and now that issue is settled, officials anticipate attention turning to broader public needs.
Vatitlone plans to urge legal voters to sign petitions to trigger an election on whether Uily county should allow saloons or diapernaries. The county voted 2,078 in the governor's election, about 978 valid votes at 45 percent. If 678 legal voters sign, the election will be called.
