The Indian League of America asked yesterday that a portion of Mahatma Gandhi's ashes be placed in a U S shrine. The request was cabled to Devdas Gandhi, Gandhi's son. League president Sirdar J J Singh said he hoped some remains would be enshrined in a proposed Gandhi monument at Washington DC. A portion of the ashes was scattered this week in the selected silver grove.
