Bowen Acquitted in Slaying of Mrs. Price

Geneva Alabama February 13 two more school bus crash victims die and Bowen acquitted today in Mrs Price death by a circuit court jury after a five hour deliberation. Bowen smiled as verdict was read and thanked jurors while family rejoiced.

County officers say Dick Palmore and Camnie Halstead were arrested last night for operating a 25 gallon still near Madrid. About a gallon of whiskey was produced before the arrests, according to police reports.

Miller to Grant Paroles for 400 County Convicts

Montgomery reports Gov. Miller will grant temporary parole to about 400 county prisoners serving sentences under a year. The list includes all county inmates except Atmore, totaling 646 under state supervision. Petitions already number 281 with conduct records noted for clemency.

Negro Who Escaped Jail Here Is Recaptured

Macon Saffo, a Black man, was returned to the Houston county jail after four years at liberty. He had escaped with other prisoners from a local jail and was arrested yesterday in Baker County, Georgia. He faces a murder charge for killing another Black man, not yet tried.
