Trial Of Bowen Expected To End At Geneva Today

Geneva Ale February 12 Special With the defense using curve testimony Wallace Bowen of Newville faces a closing day as the state rests its case after 46:30 o clock this morning. The defense called about a dozen character witnesses and many who testified for the state were summoned to testify for Bowen in a bid to end the murder trial.

Bryson Defeats Flowers in First Golf Flight at Tri-States Tourney

Herbert Bryson of Enterprise beat Drury Flowers, former Dothan Country Club champ, in the first flight of the Tri-States golf tourney at the country club. Fifty players entered as play resumed to decide all flight winners with dozens more names listed among participants.

Price, Jr. Begins Life Sentence at Kilby Prison

Geneva Ala Feb 12. H C Price Jr convicted of first degree murder of his 25 year old wife was moved from Geneva county jail to Kilby State Prison to begin his life term. The transfer started at 11 p m after his arrest last November.

Pittman arrived and asked to move his wife’s body to a funeral home. Price preferred Fellows & Forrester Funeral Co. in Dothan. Bowen allegedly dismissed the matter, saying to proceed. Pittman escorted Price and Bowen to Dothan while a Fellow & Forrester ambulance moved the body. Bowen rode in the back as Pittman heard muffled talk.

Twice Murder Trials At Geneva Halted By Grim Reaper

In Geneva Alabama two murder trials were halted this week by death. H C Price Jr’s trial paused after his maternal grandfather Jim Wells died in Florida. The Bowen case paused when clerk Oliver Jernigan’s mother in law Mrs J C Eagerton died in Montgomery. A state witness was on the stand in Bowen when court adjourned.

Auto Overturns Injure Woman and Daughter

Mrs. George Folmar 39 of Laverne Alabama and her daughter Jean four are hospitalized in Dothan after an automobile accident near here. Mrs. Folmar has numerous cuts and bruises but is not in serious condition. the baby’s head was injured and both mother and child were recovering. A tire blowout is blamed for the crash which caused the vehicle to overturn twice. A third passenger, Mrs. Colquitt of Laverne, Roy Colquitt’s mother, was not treated locally.

The Dothan Athletic Club basketball team was eliminated in the cage tournament here last night by Midland City. Abbeville Athletic Club defeated Cottonwood, Malone Athletic Club beat Siocombh, and Hartford A C eliminated Ozark in first round ties.

Timber Fell in Well Kills Workman Near Graceville

A 22 year old worker A R Bateman died after a timber slipped while he steadied curb ing in a 45 foot well near Graceville. He was transported to Dothan hospital but died from brain injury. Several Columbus area pupils from Moody and Fraiser-Ellis hospitals suffer multiple injuries after a crash. Driver Killed And 30 School Children Hurt

A Columbia area school bus crash killed driver Beech Meadows and injured 30 pupils, with several in critical condition. The bus collided head on with a log truck as Meadows shielded a student, logs crushing the bus and sending many to Dothan area hospitals.
