A humorous column argues that mockery at a boy's antics can curb falsehoods and mischief. It cites the so called Horse Laugh remedy and urges letting boys laugh at themselves to curb vanity and promote growth, with family members encouraged to laugh at the child’s curls and errors.
W. B. Culver, longtime superintendent of Dothan's water and light plant, is returning to resume his role after a brief stint in Hattiesburg Miss. The current superintendent, Mr. Clements, leaves on the first of the month. During Culver's prior tenure he focused on installing new machinery, and residents hope for improved year round water and electricity service.
Lawmakers were invited to Mobile for a Mardi Gras outing. Members debated paying for the special train and questioned who would cover the costs. Some suggested Mobile might pay, while others demanded a receipt from the L. and N. for the charge.
In Dothan rose bushes bloom anew as gardeners gather early flowers and keep mowers ready. Despite a wet November that killed grass, lawns stayed green all winter and show no winter grass or imitation turf.
A Kansas town teacher attempted to whip a 13 year old Black boy at a mixed race school. The boy took the switch and struck back, with white bystanders intervening and the sheriff called. The teacher pressed assault charges against the boy.
The Murphree family returns to Dothan after living in Cairo Georgia for a period. Mr F H Murphree visited relatives here on Sunday and plans to make Dothan their home again.

A year ago last Sunday Rev Anderson preached his first sermon in Dothan. The Sunday School report showed 140 scholars present. Last Sunday there were 308, not a good day, either, but he and the church are very satisfied, and that makes it unanimous.
A Roosevelt couple Mr and Mrs A J Gray report a remarkable blessing after relocating to Roosevelt. They claim a stork delivered three babies to their home a few days ago following their earlier claim of being childless one year prior.

The Orphan Boys Band from Macon will return to Dothan on February 27, performing at the courthouse. Admission is 50 cents for adults and 25 cents for children.

In January the Dothan mayor's court imposed 495 in fines while Montgomery levied 390.25. Both towns show a similar fiscal pace as newspapers note their populations and road access, with Montgomery near 100000 inhabitants and Rail Line Central passing through Dothan as it grows from town to city.
Lovers of good music enjoyed a great treat Tuesday evening at Foster Street Methodist Church. Mesdames Ritter and Wilson organized a high class program with well assigned parts and beautiful performance. The choir and children’s group impressed with trained singing and instrumental merit. organist and directress praised for tireless church work and generous offerings exceeded expectations.
