Montevallo Alabama College hosts about 500 alumnae for homecoming with events Friday and Saturday nights. Alumnae will attend College Night and a revue featuring student performers in Russet and drama.
P. 0. Davis, veteran Alabama State technical institute leader, elected president of the American Society of Agricultural Workers at a Memphis meeting. Other officers include Texas A and M dean Shepardson as vice president and B. B. Jonov as secretary, with regional chairmen named from Auburn Clemson and Tennessee universities. The group discussed agricultural benefits from atomic energy research and future programs on nutrition, pregnancy, viruses, and plant growth.

Willin Junior Jones fined $25 and costs on a guilty plea to assault and battery. Twenty nine cases continued.
A fire of undetermined origin heavily damaged the Home Biking Company plant in Enterprise on Tuesday night. The business is jointly owned by W. B. Newton of Dothan and T. P. Harts. Newton said interior equipment suffered heavy damage and that total loss value had not yet been appraised. Renovation plans were to begin immediately at the N Main Street facility.

FBI and U S deputy marshals arrested three Florala Alabama men in an interstate cattle theft case. Jack Webster 33 John Harrison 24 and Charles Jimmie Ale Roe 22 face charges of transporting 23 head of Angus cattle from Walton County Florida to a Geneva buyer. Investigation began last year and involves a senior cattleman, Mumford, and a Walton County theft ring with ties to interstate commerce.
Frale Martin announces the opening of Weis Shoe Store tomorrow at 8 30 a.m. The new shop, run by Mr. Martin who previously managed two departments in a separate Dolpa store, will offer top brands for ladies and children, plus handbag accessories, a children’s fitting bar, and an X ray fitting machine. The store is staffed by Mrs. Martin, Mrs. Selma Romano, and C. A. Patterson, with visitors registered at entry. Regular hours start 8:30 a.m. to 5:40 p.m. tomorrow, then 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily.
DOUGLASVILLE GA UP Officers reported progress in investigating a nightriding attack on two Negroes last Saturday as eight or nine robed men abducted Arthur C. Cowan 25 and Jesse Arnold 49 who were accused of drinking and carrying on Ku Klux Klan head Sam W Booker warned any involved would be banished Sheriff Mack Abercrombie and Sgt T A Smith worked on the case saying they have some headway but could not name those learned.
