Postwar Rights Assured To 3500 Baseball Players
Baseball’s national defense list players numbering more than 3500 may receive fair reinstatement under a plan from the major minor league planning committee led by Commissioner Landis. After two days of sessions, the committee recommended that returning servicemen be treated as if they had remained in the game, with protections and reassignments to clubs of equal rank. Rules include retention of players for 19 days of a season and waivers with tiered fees by league level, plus a path to reinstatement postwar under national defense rules for one year.
