Local authorities investigated a safe break in an onion station, while a gang evaded capture in a swamp near Kent and Grady after stealing food from a house. A petition supported by the city health officer seeks to ban pig pens within 300 yards of homes as part of a sanitation drive.
The city council met last night with members Pilcher Feuik Whidden and Roland present. Pilcher reported South Street extension completed at 275 dollars. Adel Ga Feb 6 Herman Bryan 12 son of W E Bryan was instantly killed this morning when an incoming train struck him as he stood on the track watching another train. This marks the third death in the same family in recent weeks.
Montgomery Feb 7 The general revenue bill for Alabama is ready for introduction in the House. The measure aims to put the state on a solvent basis without major tax increases and relies on more effective collection through empowered tax assessors and county officials. Final drafting was done by Brickell Lloyd and state officials with input from legislative leaders.
Beauty Alabama Feb 6. A stranger from Birmingham registered as J C Salter Petersburg Indiana. He planned to board the 3:18 train to Sheffield Alabama but the late arrival did not occur until 10 p m last night. He has vanished with his baggage scattered at Decatur depot and no inquiries yet. A receipt from an Indiana Red Men's Lodge and a hunting permit from Indiana were found among his papers. Police and the Red Men lodge are pursuing leads.
New York Feb 6 A postal card signed Dorothy I am safe reached Harold Arnold father of Dorothy Arnold who has been missing since December 12 The handwriting closely resembles the missing heiress but Mr Arnold doubts it is her He fears a joke The card has no address or date and bears a New York City postmark.
Residents of Monroe County Tennessee claim to have found gold nuggets in the Fowis area near Vanore. Local parties surveying the crops report several small nuggets tested as gold, fueling excitement and reviving an old Indian legend of an Eldorado near Yonore.

In New Iberia Louisiana February 4 a gorilla defeated a bull dog in a death match watched by most of the male population. A twelve by eight foot pen held the fight with the dog dying within two minutes as the gorilla seized and killed it. The gorilla Angelia weighs about 100 pounds and is owned by a traveling showman while the dog Terry weighs 68 pounds and is owned by George Wison of Patterson. The owner of the gorilla has challenged rivals but no takers.
In a letter from Gramiing Lula Walden reports improved strength after using Cardus. She says she could not walk before, now does housework for a family of nine and has not been bedridden. Cardus is presented as a tonic for women addressing headaches and dragging sensations.
Ten workers perish in a catastrophic explosion at Pluto Powder Company near Ishpeming Michigan. Names include Michael O Connor Robert Askew Edward Woods Ward George Woodward Thomas Ripper Joseph Ripper Charles Kemp Justin Jordan George Walberg Andrew Matson. About 1000 pounds of gelatine explosive had been removed before the blast.
