Henry F. Bessiere was found dead beside the Alabama City Gadsden and Attalla street car line. Initial belief was a hit by a car, but later signs point to murder. His eye was knocked out and the skull crushed. He came from Eneley a year ago to work at the steel plant, about 25 years old, survived by a widow and two daughters.
Charlsse Tinley, thirteen, daughter of Andrew J Haley, leads a pardon appeal for her father who was sent to dig in the city for liquor violations. New Orleans reports J. H. Minor of St. Louis Coxswain aboard the U S cruiser Marietta died of yellow fever contracted in Kingston Jamaica. He was buried aboard the Marietta with naval and British escorts in heavy rain. The ship may be replaced by the Wheeling to Puerto Cortes from Guatemala. Several other fever cases exist among the Marietta crew.
