Crude Vase Believed Indian Relic Unearthed Near Cameron
A crudely fashioned vase carved from limerock and flint, weighing several hundred pounds and standing several feet high with a two foot diameter, was unearthed by a CWA road crew near Cameron's school and is on exhibit on S Foster Street. Finders think it is an Indian relic, possibly centuries old, based on signs of human workmanship. Broken parts of a second vase were found at the site.

Former Statistician Killed in Auto Crash Near Gadsden
Dr. Dale S. Young, statistician for the Tennessee Department of Education and former Alabama official, died after a night collision five miles north of Gadsden. His car hit the side of a heavy truck during a passing maneuver on a straight highway. He had left Montgomery for Knoxville for Tennessee Valley Authority research talks and was taken to Hooks Lake Church area hospital where he died shortly after admission.
