Stateside Christmas a Hard Craft for GI Soldiers Abroad
Maelin Spencer reports on the longing for a true Stateside Christmas among U S troops in Japan during World War II. The piece contrasts press handouts from MacArthur with fading holiday cheer, noting local services in Yokohama and festive meals, yet the holiday remains elusive for many serving far from home.
