O P Green Hurt In Automobile Wreck

Secretary of the United Commercial Travelers received a message from O P Green who is hospitalized in Miami after a road accident on his trip from Dothan. Green had been operating as a Miami broker with a load of turkeys when the wreck occurred. details and extent of injuries are unavailable.

Two Couples Receive Marriage Licenses in Alabama

Yesterday at the probate judge office only three marriage permits were issued. The couples licensed were Addie Lee Smith and Gustie Renes of Gordon Alabama, Frits A Lee Wilson of Culloden Georgia and Grace Edith Mills of Colwanbe Alabama. William Hardy of Dothan and Flowers Ward of Midland City are listed among the rest.

Hogs prove wheat feeding profitable in cafeteria trial

BEATRICE Neb Dec 23 AP a Beatrice farm operated by C J Claassen head of an Omaha company fed 700 Hampshire hogs a wheat based ration showing weight gains that made the wheat worth 1152 bushel versus 63 to 67 cents on Nebraska farms. Hogs were fed large self feeders with cracked wheat smaller ones with barley and shelled corn and a protein tankage end. The result is hogs predominantly wheat with little barley corn or tankage in the diet.

Washington December 23 AP The federal emergency highway construction appropriation of 80 million dollars was notified as available immediately by Secretary Hyde. States may use the funds to match regular federal aid apportionments including fiscal year 1932. Alabama is allotted 1 698 645 in the apportionment.

Bessemer Banks Fail to Open in City Today

In Bessemer City on December 23 AP reports that the National Bank and the Bessemer Trust and Savings Bank failed to open. Officials said the closures were for the best interest of depositors and that the Bessemer bank closing was authorized by state bank superintendent Dent Green. The National bank’s shutdown followed the other bank suspending payments.

Rotarians Hear Reverend Clement Ritts at Luncheon
