Firemen Rush to Headland Blaze Endangering Goo Mon White Store

Four Dothan firemen led by Chief J. E. Zigiar traveled to Headland at midnight to battle a fire that nearly destroyed the Goo Mon White General Merchandise store, a major Headland business. The blaze caused stock losses running into thousands, with origin undetermined as crews fought flames and used water to ruin much of the inventory. Part of the stock had been from Hub Department Store of Dothan which had sold its remaining futures and stock to Headland yesterday.

Mrs. M A Giddens Dies at Montgomery

Mrs. M A Giddens, 92, mother of Mrs A L Stough of 303 Ni Appletree Street, died after a short illness of pneumonia at the Montgomery home of her daughter Mrs W Robb sop. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at Briar All. Mrs Giddens was known in Dothan where she visited often and had many friends.

Benjamin Franklin Evans of Decatur county buried in Cedar Grove cemetery in a Confederate uniform. Florence December 15 Aseri Saioke emerged from a Tom Murphy cabin 22 miles east as welfare workers treated a destitute family. Elmore County Sheriff and four others freed in conspiracy case

Former Dothan Resident Mrs. Jordan Dies in Tuskegee
