The Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board revised its rules to allow sales of beverages after polls close on election days. Administrator Fox Gunny explained confusion over beverage releases on election days and set that sales may occur between sundown and 9 PM or after polling places close by law.
Number 15 continued from page one recalls ELAS losses with wounded and captured, believed to be about ten percent of the total force. A Hutish sale was killed near British Headquarters, while 12 Central Aliens by FLAS shells yesterday. ELAS mortar shells damaged a barracks manned by Ephslad personnel of the American Air Transport Command, but there were no casualties.
Ozark Baptist Church announces Building Fund Day to aid construction of an educational building. Pastor Rev John B Johnson says $16,200 of $30,000 goal has been raised. December 14 services will feature messages including The Other Wise Man in morning and evening sessions.
Washington AP top draft official urged forced service for men aged 38 to 45 to stop turnover and fix war production. Col Francis Keesling cited Byrnes edict allowing non draftees in 18-37 to be inducted and urged penalties and plant restrictions with legislation.
Dr W T Burkett health officer announced that clerks who served in Dothan and Totslo County during a blood testing campaign should visit the county health department to collect their checks. Horace M Dykes Jr. of Ashford has been promoted from second lieutenant to first lieutenant, announced by the War Department. Dykes, a 1942 Alabama Polytechnic Institute graduate, entered service in August 1942 as a private, received his commission in May 1943, and is now assistant commanding officer of a direction at Maxwell Field.
The City Commission adopted a new ordinance amending the municipal traffic code to limit ambulances to 20 miles per hour in business and residential districts of Dothan. Commissioner Clyde L. Caro chaired public health and safety, with unanimous support from President Raviius McKin cey and Commissioner Miles A. Miller.
