Pirates board British ship in deadly clash near Hong Kong

A British steamship Hawiching carrying 300 aboard faced a pirate assault near Swatow and Hong Kong last night. About twelve killed, sixty drowned, forty wounded as pirates fired on deck, later set fires. British destroyers Sterling and Sirdar answered distress, aided survivors, arrested pirates, and treated the wounded.

Man Found Dead in Eufaula Hotel Room

J Fulbaore McTyre 46, a member of a prominent South Alabama family, was found dead in a hotel room in Eufaula Sunday afternoon. A bullet wound to his temple and a pistol in his hand were noted. Coroner probate judge G O Wallace ruled death by own action. McTyre had been manager of an Akron department store until two weeks ago, came south to visit his father in Columbia, Alabama, fell ill, and was hospitalized in Dothan before returning. Notes to relatives indicated fear of not recovering from illness. Surviving are his widow and father.

Slocomb Woman Mandy Dunn Dies at 79

Mandy Dunn age 79 of Slocomb route three died at home this morning. She is survived by one son. Funeral services were to be held this afternoon at three o'clock at Pilgrim's Rest Church with arrangements by the east on Faneml Rome.

Three children killed by bomb in Brooklyn home

Police probe a Brooklyn kitchen blast that killed Mary Blazone fifteen Phillip Falzone thirteen and Rose Falzone eight as the mother and two younger children escaped. Father Joseph Falzone was detained for questioning after reporting threatening letters and a hunting trip set for Pennsylvania. The bomb was built from steel pipe with high explosive a timer and detonator.
