People Eat More Despite Higher Costs in 1948
BERKELEY Calif UP People are eating more now despite high prices than ten years ago. Per capita food consumption in 1948 was 17 percent above 1936 and may rise further this year. Dr Harry R Wellman says people still spend only 23 percent of income for food despite higher retail prices. Higher incomes have equalized the difference for most people.
