John J. Espy Funeral Remains Held at Headland Church

John J. Espy longtime local figure and lodge member died recently. Survived by wife Emma Carroll Espy and a family including daughter Mrs. Charles W. Sidney of Bloomfield New Jersey, sons John J. Wiregrass VFW to Receive State Charter

State Commander Frank Bunkley will present the Wiregrass Post of Veterans of Foreign Wars with its charter at an 8 o clock joint meeting with the auxiliary in the Woodman of the World hall. The post lists 107 charter members and ranks as Alabama’s second largest unit, per Commander Carl E. Sellers.

Auto overturns injures two at Alabama Florida highway intersection

Carl Newton and Miss Catherine Deese were slightly hurt when their automobile overturned at the St Andrews and Oates street intersection on the Alabama Florida highway. Both were to be dismissed from a local hospital today.

Youth Shot in Arm in Hunting Mishap Near Ozark

Shelbern Wright, 16, of Arguta near Ozark, was seriously wounded when a shotgun fired as the trigger caught in the pocket of his hunting companion Junior Davis. Wright was walking ahead of Davis when the gun discharged, striking him in the right arm. both youths were in a local hospital.
