State Advances Cattle Program
Alabama moves to build a 32 000 head regional livestock center system as part of a statewide cattle production plan. The 1945 measure drafted eight regional livestock centers and a Mammoth Center at Montgomery with initial funding of 200 000 dollars. Senators Sons Carton Garrett and Henderson backed the diversified farming effort. Alabama’s livestock cash and government payments last year totaled 123 794 000 dollars.
