Mountaineer's Funeral Beside Backwoods Ridge Tale
Hal Boyle recalls Uncle Bush Breazeale in East Tennessee who planned his own funeral by sitting in a handmade coffin under walnut trees as neighbors gathered for a picnic. The tale links local life with TVA’s Norris Dam expansion and a stubborn ancestor who refused to sell his Lindemwood farm to backwaters, shaping a slice of regional memory.
