Livingston Ala Aug 21 CAP The Sumter County grand jury charged three Negroes with murder tied to the Emelle July 4 disorders while noting the lynching and posse killings were deplorable. Four county officials resigned, including treasurer T B Ward who pled guilty to embezzlement and received five years. court clerk M C Jarman and circuit solicitor W R Kimbrough also resigned. Indictments named Tom Robertson and two sons Olij and John, plus two other Robertson relatives. killings followed an argument over a car battery. State police conducted the inquiry and a grand jury investigation was ordered.
